Corse cycling has two sections that every biker should cycle: the path between Calvi and Cargese and the tour of Cap Corse offer spectacular panoramas and most of cycling takes place along very narrow roads hanged over a blue sea.
CYCLING HANGED OVER THE SEA
BOULANGERIES: a french institution even well known in Corse.
In the expensive Corse the following Hotels represent an exception:
HOTEL PUNTA E MARE IN CARGESE: nice hotel at the end of a wonderful cycling day.
HOTEL LOFT IN PROPIANO: best ratio price/quality in Corse and that after a heavy duty cycling day.
HOTEL L'ATRACHJATA IN ALERIA: good ratio price/service.
HOTEL LA MARINA D'ORO IN MACINAGGIO: a nice room in a pretty village.
HOTEL DU CENTRE IN SAINT FLORENT: cheap and pretty hotel in the center of the village.
But it is right to remember also the good hotels We found in Provence after the Corse Tour:
HOTEL CENTRAL IN DIGNE LES BAINS: cheap and with nice rooms.
HOTEL DE L'AVENUE IN ANNOT: nice hotel in a nice Valley.
CAP CORSE: A must for a cyclist as well as for everybody. It is worth the whole trip.
ROUTE DEPARTEMENTALE 81B AND 81 FROM CALVI TO CARGESE: Another must. It is worth the whole trip and added to Cap Corse tour it represent one of the most scenic path We have cycled ever.
MICHELIN MAP AND MICHELIN RED GUIDE: a precious and detailed help during the whole journey.
GUIDE ROUTARD: another detailed and usefull help.
MY SONY VAIO VGN-TX5MN: light and usefull to study paths and to find and book hotels where wi-fi was available.
GERMAN PEOPLE: A lot of them in Corse and always a great pleasure to meet.
PROVENCE AT THE END OF THE HOLIDAY: Always a great pleasure to get there.
Corse is not a so biker friendly Region. So be prepared to share your path with thousands and thousands of cars, vans, campers, trucks, quads, motorbikes; in few words everything that can burn gasoline. However the best sections (Cap Corse and Route Departementale 81A and 81 fron Calvi to Cargese) have at least in september a reasonable traffic.
We had the sensation that here tourists are often considered chicken.
CORSE RAILWAYS: impossible to be sure if scheduled trains work or not.
